In the field of drawings, pastels and watercolours from the Renaissance to Impressionism, VAN HAM achieves outstanding results with its technically diverse and exquisite range. This is despite the fact that works on paper are among the most difficult genres in art, as both the Old and the New Masters only signed their drawings and (preliminary) studies in a few exceptions. For this reason, the attribution of the works is a challenge in some cases. A challenge to which VAN HAM conscientiously dedicates himself with unique expertise and careful research. This includes the clear attribution of the works, for which VAN HAM is constantly in close dialogue with international experts, museums and experienced collectors. Qualified provenance research ensures an increase in the value of the artwork and is therefore of great interest to the consignor and the buyer.
After thorough examination, the highlights are put up for auction at VAN HAM, where they meet a large number of collectors. These include Paul Gaugin, who realised an outstanding result for his monotype ‘Parau hanohano’ in spring 2023, and Hans Mielich, who achieved twelve times the estimate for his preliminary study of the right wing of the high altar of Ingolstadt Cathedral's ‘The Presentation of Christ in the Temple’. Caspar David Friedrich also created outstanding works on paper. His works are also very stable in value.
