Norddeutsche Privatsammlung Private collection Northern Germany The collector was born 1926 in Tsianfu (today Jinan) in China and spent his youth there. His parents worked since 1925 as principal and teacher in the German consulate. 1932 they were transferred to Mukden (today Shenyang), where they worked at the German School. 1935 the family returned to Germany. As the father was speaking Chinese fluently, he got the order from the consul to buy valuable art objects from Chinese dealers. On this occasion, he bought bronzes, porcelain, jade and paintings for himself. Spending his youth in China, where he met people from different countries from all over the world, had a huge influence on the collector. He spoke Chinese too, and was interested in the art of the country of his youth his whole life. The art objects, inherited from the father, and brought to Germany with much effort in those difficult times where held in high esteem in the family.
