From ZERO to Op-Art: Our current online auction is dedicated to two art movements of the post-war period whose collective interest lies in the investigation of visual principles of perception. Non-representational, geometric-serial forms glow or move and iridesce the viewer's eye. By striving for seriality as well as using reflective surfaces and oscillating plays of light, the artists create an entirely new aesthetic.
Whereas the works of the ZERO artists are subject to a diversity of materials through a love of experimentation and an enthusiasm for technology using technical and industrial materials such as nails, aluminum plates, glass, mirrors, and light fixtures, Op Art creates optical effects in particular through the use of abstract formal patterns and geometric color figures. Both currents have in common that the traditional picture composition is replaced by serial picture orders.
With over 75 selected works of art, the online auction offers a comprehensive overview of a complex art movement and allows you as a viewer to immerse yourself in the visual fascination of both movements.
