From Op Art to Kinetic Art to Light Art: Our current online auction is dedicated to one of the most exciting art movements of the post-war period, which formed as a collective term of the "New Tendencies" in the 1960s in Europe. In 1961, the exhibition "Nove Tendencije" was held for the first time in Zagreb, in which 25 artists from the European region participated. Among the exhibitors are members of the artist group ZERO from Germany, Grav from France, Gruppo N and Gruppo T from Italy and the group Exat 51 from Yugoslavia. The exhibition format will continue as a traveling exhibition in other European cities such as Paris and Ingolstadt.
The collective interest of the artists lies generally in the investigation of visual principles of perception, but more specifically in the interaction between the work and the viewer. With the pursuit of seriality as well as the use of reflective surfaces and oscillating plays of light, a completely new aesthetic is created. Non-representational, geometric-serial forms glow or burst into motion, iridescing the viewer's eye. With over 100 selected works of art, the online auction offers a comprehensive overview of this complex art movement and allows you, the viewer, to immerse yourself in the visual fascination.
