The "Düsseldorfer Malerschule" is firmly anchored in art historiography and represented in important collections. It formed between 1819 and 1918 at the Royal Prussian Academy of Art in Düsseldorf from a loose group of numerous artists who were trained and taught at the Düsseldorf Academy, taught there or worked in its environment. Already in the 19th century, the artistic educational institution with the Düsseldorf School of Painting developed into one of the leading institutions, whose impact was fascinating and felt far beyond the borders of the Rhineland.
In this ONLINE ONLY auction, VAN HAM is able to offer a selection of around 60 top-class works, including works by Max Clarenbach, Eugen Kampf, Carl Wilhelm Hübner and Hugo Mühlig. The offering also presents the impressive diversity of the Düsseldorf School of Painting, which is reflected above all in the genres and includes atmospheric landscapes and socially critical genre paintings, as well as impressive history paintings, characteristic portraits and wonderful still lifes.
