The longing for nature is a recurring theme in art. In the 19th century wide landscapes and stormy seas were a symbol for human beings to find their way back to themselves and their essence and to recognize their own insignificance in the face of the sublimity of natural forces.
In contemporary art other undertones are also mixed into the representation of nature. Their conquest by human beings is thematized, like the cultivation of fields in Markus Matthias Krüger's work. The negative effects of these conquests, exploitation and destruction are also often depicted.
The auction "Nature" is dedicated to the whole range of this theme, which is represented in the SOR Rusche Collection. In addition to landscapes and navies, animal depictions and plant studies by artists such as Kai Klahre, Gabi Hamm or Ruprecht von Kaufmann are also on offer.
With 121 works in the price range from 100 to 2,000 euros.
The catalogue can be seen from 23 October.
