From the very beginning, 20th century art has been dominated by two artistic tendencies: figuration and abstraction, which continue to shape contemporary taste in parallel to each other to this day. After the Second World War, various currents of abstract painting seem to have gradually replaced figurative art completely. With the post-war avant-gardes from the seventies onwards, figurative painting was finally revived and the figure was returned to. Younger generations of painters also found approaches to figurative depictions, both stylistically and thematically. With more than 120 figurative works, the online auction offers an interesting collection of figurative drawings, paintings and prints.
