The Line

From the delicate line to the rich brushstroke. The online auction "The Line" is interested in works of art that are based on the reduced basic concept of the line. Starting with delicate etchings, the auction ranges from painterly lithographs to lines as abstract means of composition. In the auction the line for example is expressed in the subtle etchings of the artist Eduardo Chillida, which on paper are reproduced - in contrast to his monumental sculpture - as sensitive balances and nuances. In Emil Schumacher's prints, the line functions more as an abstract design principle that gives the works dynamics and drama. The artists Günther Förg and Imi Knoebel, on the other hand, extend the design medium of the broad line to a rich, monochrome surface. The auction is rounded off with paintings on canvas and paper, including contemporary works by Stephan Jung.
