Collecting historical silver has a long tradition and still attracts a large circle of collectors. A high-quality silversmith's work shows the viewer the impressive and detailed craftsmanship of the silversmith. In recent years, VAN HAM has been entrusted not only with exceptional individual pieces but also with extensive collections of historical silver, which have been successfully marketed due to their special provenance and historical significance. A special highlight on the German art market was the collection of the Cologne entrepreneur Friedrich Wilhelm Waffenschmidt: a museum collection of lidded tankards and goblets with 28 works from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The magnificent silver objects, some of extraordinary size, were masterfully crafted and came from the most important silversmithing centers such as Augsburg, Nuremberg or Gdansk.
