The collection to be auctioned here comes from Prof. Dr. med. Christian Eggers (1938 – 2020), the former director of the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital Essen. The proceeds of the auction will go fully to the Prof. Dr. Eggers Foundation.
It is an extraordinarily broad collection. In addition to works from the first half of the 20th century and some examples of "Art brut", it includes masks and sculptures from non-European, primarily African cultures.
