Franz Pforr

Exciting Discoveries

The small and completely inconspicuous painting by Franz Pforr, which was listed as "lost" in the literature, was a true rediscovery. Dated and signed in 1808, the work, which is also an important document on the history of the Vienna Lukasbund, achieved an international auction record of 915,000 euros. Only five paintings by the artist, who died at an early age, were previously known. All of them are owned by museums, which made "Nightly Homecoming" a unique rarity on the art market. VAN HAM had discovered this art-historically significant work and recognized its true value.
